Soccer betting strategies
Soccer betting strategies
We present some of the most used soccer betting strategies. Soccer strategies that involve betting on the favorite (sure bets strategy), on the underdog (underdog betting strategy), on the draw (draw or X betting strategy), Martingale system (a strategy that helps you recover losing bets stakes) and D'Alembert system (a strategy help you maintain a balance between those lost and won bets) .
Those who do not use any betting strategies have relatively low chances to win money from sports betting, but those who use strategies together with some betting rules every time they bet will increase the chances of winning. In the following we will analyze and test each strategy, you will have to decide which strategy best suits for your betting style.
Strategy no 1 – Sure bets strategy
This strategy is suitable for those who bet on favorites (top teams). Choose a team that in the last 2-3 matches has at least one misstep (misstep = a game where the favorite team did not win the match, ex. Chelsea - Hull 1-1), but very important, the next opponent should be the same caliber like the one in the “misstep” (eg Chelsea - Reading). The odds for the favorite team to win the match will be between 1.15 and 1.40. You should think that a winning bet will bring you 15-40% more money than you invest. A betting ticket with two of this type of matches will almost double your money. Using this strategy we suggest that your betting ticket to include 2-3 matches, but the matches should be chosen very carefully.
Strategy no 2 - Small odds strategy (Safe bets strategy)
This strategy relies on choosing one or two matches with low odds (also called safe bets strategy), you can choose a bet with 1, X, 2, 1X or X2. The bet may have the final odd between 1.15 and 1.40. The reason for these odds is to increase your chances of winning. Before you begin this strategy try to set an objective, an achievable goal would be to double your first stake. Suppose you start this strategy with a stake of 10$, let’s say that the final odd for your first bet will be 1.30, the potential winnings are 13$. In case of a winning bet, the stake for the second bet will be 13$. With the same final odd (1.30) the potential winnings are 16.9$. If you win this bet, the next stake will be 16.9$ and the potential winnings are 22$. At this time you achieved your objective, to double your first stake. You can stop here and take all over again, or you can continue with one last bet. If you continue this strategy, your next stake will be 22$ and the potential winnings are 28.6$. At this point you have almost tripled your first stake, it will be a good time to stop and repeat the strategy all over again with your first stake (10$).
When you use the “Small odd strategy” (also called “Safe bets strategy”) you must choose carefully your matches, we recommend to choose teams that have very little chances to lose the match, try to place bets like 1X or X2 because are much safer.
Strategy no 3 – Underdog betting strategy
This strategy is suitable for those that are looking for big gains (matches with high odds), for those who bet on underdogs. The idea is simple, you have to choose top teams that in the last 4-5 matches have only wins, both at home and away, you should bet against the top team until you will win. Is recommended to bet against the top teams on away matches, doing this you increase your chances of winning. We must ensure that in the next 4-5 matches, both at home and away, the opponents of the top teams to be from the middle and bottom of the table. If you lose a bet, double or triple your stakes in the next bet.
Before using the “underdog betting strategy” is highly recommended to calculate how many tickets you can lose before exhausting your betting budget. The budget must allow you to lose at least six bets in order to give you security.
Strategy no 4 – Draw betting strategy
This strategy consists in choosing a championship in which, on average, in each stage at least two matches end with a draw. You should choose a team that has not registered a draw in the last 5-6 matches (or more). You will bet on draw every time this team plays, no matter the opponent (top team, middle team or underdog). The odd for draw is at least 3.00 and can reach up to 3.60. After each losing bet you must double or triple your stake for the next one. You will do this until you win.
Before using the “draw betting strategy” is highly recommended to calculate how many tickets you can lose before exhausting your betting budget. The budget must allow you to lose at least seven bets in order to give you security.
Strategy no 5 - No goal scored betting strategy
For this betting strategy we will bet on a team not to score. We will choose a top or middle team, team that scored in the last 5-6 consecutive matches. To understand better on how to choose the teams we will present an example: to apply this soccer strategy in a league with 20 teams we will take into consideration the teams from 4-10 place, in a league with 16 teams we will take into consideration the teams from 3-8 place ... etc. The odds for this kind of betting varies between 3.00 and 8.00, depending on opponent and the venue of the match (home or away). If we lose the bet, we will double or triple the next stake.
Strategy no 6 - Predefined formulas betting strategy
To use this strategy you can choose any soccer championship (league), then you can bet after just ONE of the 12 formulas bellow:
ex. 2 matches (for more safety use just 2 matches):
- 1, 1
- 1, X
- X, 1
- X, X
ex. 3 matches (for bigger winnings, but a higher risk):
- 1, 1, 1
- 1, 1, X
- 1, X, 1
- X, 1, 1
- 1, X, X
- X 1, X
- X, X, 1
- X, X, X
Examples may continue, everything depends on the degree of risk that a punter is willing to assume, this risk is determined by the number of choosen matches (a bigger number of soccer matches will increase the risk) and the pick (the more "X" on your ticket, the higher the risk, for more safety choose more "1"). How does this strategy work : we choose any championship, then we choose the first 2 or 3 matches in chronological order and then we bet after ONE of the 12 presented formulas. We elaborate this strategy with a practical example :
England - Stage 19
Friday 16:30 Sunderland - West Ham
Saturday 17:00 Manchester United - Arsenal
Saturday 17:00 Chelsea - West Brom
Saturday 17:00 Aston Villa - Liverpool
..... etc.
Supose we choose the 1st formula from the "3 matches", our betting ticket will look like this :
Sunderland - West Ham 1 - 2.20
Manchester United - Arsenal 1 - 2.00
Chelsea - West Brom 1 - 1.30
The final odd for our betting ticket is 5.72, the stake is 10$, in case of a losing ticket the stake for the next one will be 20$ or 30$ (we double or triple the stake), we respect the same rules in choosing the next 3 matches (chronological order). We continue to do this until we win the bet, then resume to the initial stake and start all over again.
Strategy no 7 - Correct score betting strategy
This betting strategy is very similar to the one above, the only difference is by replacing the "1" and "X" picks with "correct score", scores that you can choose as you wish. For this betting strategy we recommend the following scores : 1-0, 2-0 and 2-1, we also recommend to play only two matches on a betting ticket, doing this you increase your chances in winning your bet. The odds for this kind of picks varies between 4.50 and 21.00. To show you the potential of this betting strategy we will make some calculations that will show the possible profit. The medium odds are 6.50, so the final odd for two matches will be 6.50 x 6.50 = 42.25, this multiplied with 10$ (our stake) results a possible winning of 422.50$. The advantage using this strategy is that we are not forced to double or triple our stake after a losing bet, thanks to the bigger return (winnings). Here's an example of a betting ticket:
Sundeland - West Ham 1-0 - 6.50
Manchester United - Arsenal 1-0 - 6.50
Strategy no 8 – The Martingale system
The Martingale is a very old betting system but also easy to understand, it was especially created for casino players, but in time has become useful in sports betting. If you lose a bet or a number of bets, you should increase your future stakes in order to cover all your losses and to make profit from the first winning bet. After you won the bet which brought profit, the stake for the next bet should be the same as your first bet (at the beginning of this strategy).
The bellow formula is for finding the perfect stake:
Stake = (L + P) / (O – 1)
Where:
L = total losses
P = desired profit
O = odd
/ = divided
This strategy has a major disadvantage, if the punter lose one bet the stake for the next bet should be quite big, increasing the risk to lose all the budget in case of another losing bet. Is not a very good strategy for long term.
Strategy no 9 – D’Alembert system
This system is named after the mathematician and physicist Jean Le Rond D’Alembert. This betting system requires a balance of successes and failures of a played event, increasing the stake by one unit for a losing bet and decreasing by one unit for a winning bet. The amount may be increased or reduced depending on elevation (instead of one unit you can increase or decrease by two or three units). You decide what value has one unit, depending on your budget.
Before using this betting strategies with real money please test them on paper.
We present the main things you should take into consideration when choosing an online betting agency :
- the prestige that he enjoys among punters
- possibility to bet on a single sporting event
- maximum winnings
- odds must be offered in time (as earlier in the week for the matches from weekend)
- sporting events should be well represented both horizontally (soccer, tennis, formula 1, basketball ...) and vertical (lower divisions, cups ...)
- betting range should be diverse (correct score, number of goals, half time - full time, first to score, under / over, asian handicap ...)
